Ebru - Turkish Marbling Art

I recently had the opportunity to try a Turkish art form called Ebru. It was invented in the 13th Century and is still very popular today. Colorful patterns are created by sprinkling and brushing color pigments in a pan of oily water and then transferring the pattern to paper. Mine are very simple, but you can find much more complex and amazing ones if you google ebru art. I hope to try more in the future. Thanks to my hosts in the city of Urfa who introduced me to this amazing art!

Elephant Ear Art

painting with elephant ears

I have recently enjoyed making some unique impressions of elephant ear plants using canvas and acrylic paint. My brother-in-law gave me elephant ear bulbs a few years ago and I have been growing them in the summers. Since they are a tropical plant, I have to dig them up and store them for the winter but their friendly, bold look is worth the extra work! I hope you enjoy the slideshow and feel free to contact me if you are interested in purchasing any of them or would like to work with me on a custom order that I could make for you during next summer's season.
